The Quest

When I browsed the PTT the other day, I overheard a song in the finale episode of Grey's Anatomy. The song was called "The Quest" by a 22 years old British singer, Bryn Christopher. Listening to it for the first time, I was blown away immediately. It was truely amazing. Bryn Christopher had a magnificent soulful voice! He had a kind of hoarse voice like those jazz singers in old days; however, he did not overdo it. Those old school singers often overdid the hoarse sound which made the song kind of annoying to the audience. But Bryn did not become one of them. He just add the cracked sound in the proper time and made the music sound even more beautiful. Just brilliant!

I has listened to the song repeatedly when I took the train to Taipei or walked on the street to the bus stop. It must have been played over 100 times since I found the song. The lyrics has lingered in my mind all the time and given me the desire to groove with the song. That's exactly the magic of "The Quest." You just can't quit on it. "What I gonna live for, what I gonna die for, who you gonna fight for, I can answer that." This piece of the lyrics has stayed in my mind all the time.

I also found another song by Bryn on youtube, called "Smillin'." It was as well a brilliant song. Even easier to catch the lyrics and the melody. The music was very interesting, though a bit scaring when the girls wearing a strange makeup dancing in a huge warehouse.(LOL)

His debut album "My World" is going to be released on 1st Sep. I can't wait to listen to his full album.
