Primal Fear

After Paris recommended me to watch this film which he thinks it is the best he has seen from Edward Norton, I immediately rent it home to find out whether it is true or not. I have always been obsessed to Edward Norton ever since I watched his Fight Club years ago. He is really good at protraying complex characters.

Whenever I listen to Edward Norton speaks, I can feel sort of strength in him. He has such a imperturbable voice that can always calm me down and make me feel safe. Maybe it is the tone or the intonation. I don't know. There is some mysterious power in his voice. It can bring us mildness and serenity. I love to hear he say anything.

His performance in this film was nothing but spetacular. It was so believable that when the unexpected twist occurred, I was literary dumb. Not to mention that it was his first time participated in a budget movie. He successfully protrayed two almost opposite characters in the same film and both were exordinarily believable. And this shining performance, without argument, won he an oscar nomination. He totally deserved it.

The Departed

The reason why I picked this film is the drastic emotion I got from this poster. The tense in Leo's frown stroke on my heart bitterly. I can tell how complex the emotion he has from his facial expression.

Super Citizen Ko

This movie is too shocking that I can hardly recover from the melancholy of the devestating history. It gave me a severe punch on the head. I should never forget the past of Taiwan.

The Mist

I had heard about this movie from Tommy. He said that it was a very shocking movie, very worthwatching. And I tell you the truth--it really is. The movie was way beyond my expectation. With the vivid portrait of humanity, it mentioned a lot of Bible chapters through a psychiclike woman who pulled everything into the Bible plot. Upon seeing this, I was very resentful toward her, for she misleading people to blindly trust in God, and even intigate her audience to kill people as sacrifices. That was absurd.

Though the well depicted of humanity did amaze me, I still didn't like the ending. I thought that committing suicide was what coward would do. Even though there seemed no hope anymore, we can still fight. Fight for the right to live. Fight for the people in the supermarket. We should never choose the way suicide to end our live. Or there would not be the cruel moment that the enemy was defeated, and all homosapiens are survive instead of the four he killed. I was really not appreciated the plot of the ending.

Still, there is one thing worth mentioning--the boy. The boy played the role of the kid was really good. He delievered his emotions so well that I was almost cried on the spot. This boy really can act!

Closer

This movie was the last one I saw before the midterm came. And I have to say that it is the perfect period for the series movies I watched last few weeks. The plot was really brilliant--spare the time of protraying details to more crucial part of the plot. Last second their relationship may entangle with the affairs; next minute they were back together again. Scenes go smoothly with changing soft the camera from one part to another.

Julia Roberts, oh my gosh. She really can act! She totally touched my heart and blew my mind! She deserved the Academy Award. In the film she was really bewildered for her emotional dilemma--the decision to choose Dan or Larry. Oh gee. I could really feel the way she felt.

Alice was the key role of the whole plot. She was a person who knew what she wanted and did not allow the desire or emotions like love to deviate her. Anything she determined to get would not be given up until she succeeded. And, of course, at the end of the movie, she took the whole movie to the climax by showing her passport to the Customs.

There is still one thing worth mentioning. Music. The song "The Blower's Daughter" which interluded from the beginning to the end was really a brilliant song. It fitted the movie perfectly. Especially in the end of the film. With the climax of the revelation of the truth and the scene Alice walked on the New York street, the song punched a destructive impact on the audience's heart and left them with the melancholy shattering in the wind. What a masterpiece!

Stranger Than Fiction

Stranger Than Fiction has broken the image I had on the protagonist Will Ferrell. He used to often play a part in the comedies. And the way he conveyed those funny points was actually quite disgusting for me. However, after seeing this movie, he totally change it.

World Trade Center

This movie was not what I thought it would be at all. I thought that it would be a cliche heroic movie, Nicolas Cage being the savior to save the victims trapped in the debris of the building. However, it was not. In fact, Nicolas Cage was actually the man trapped in the wreckage, which made this movie more dramatic than normal disaster film.
The most emotional part was the wives of these officer who were worried about their husbands' safety. They didn't know whether their husbands were alive or not. Despite their anxiety, they kept doing their daily thing and did not let the catastrophe affect their children. The conflict in their mind must be very hard for them to hide. I almost cried when I saw they hold back their tears in their eyes and smile at their children. It was really heartbreaking.

P.S. I LOVE YOU

This is a very heartwarming movie. I saw the trailer when I went to see Atonement, and I was overwhelmed by the plot immediately. How can a man be so sweat, so thoughtful. During his time in the hospital due to the dreadful brain tuner, he had planed to help his beloved wife start her new life after he died. He wrote letters to tell her that she had to continue her journey even without his company. He urged her to try something she wanted to do but didn't have a chance to. He showed his love for her and reminded her how they met, how the first kiss tasted like, and how was their parents thought of each other. Furthermore, he also helped Holly to find her ideal job that she loved-designing shoes.

And the ending was that she started to feel he was not still around her anymore. Not in bed when she slept, not in the couch singing with guitar when she felt lonely. He was really gone forever, which meant that she could resume her new life. I was deeply touched by the ending which kept me smiling and felt something warm in my heart.
